Wellington

Welcome to Wellington. We’re renowned for great coffee, creative and quirky flavour, arts, music and our blustery winds.

Perched on the south-western tip of the North Island, Wellington sits between the Rimutaka Ranges to the north and the Cook Strait to the south, a stone’s throw from the beaches of the Kapiti Coast, and the plush wine region of the Wairarapa, Wellington is well positioned for a weekend trip or day-long adventure.

Wellington and its surrounds boast a smorgasbord of activities to keep you entertained throughout your visit. Named as the fourth top city in the world to visit, and as the Coolest Little Capital in the World by Lonely Planet last year, Wellington is the political centre and creative capital of New Zealand.

Compact and convenient, make sure you pack a pair of comfy shoes as Wellington is the perfect city to explore on foot.  Have a peek at Beek, your virtual tour guide, before you venture out, pick a few things that tickle your fancy and you’re on your way to creating your very own Wellington experience.

Café culture dominates Wellington.  Take a quick wander and you’ll soon see you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to coffee, just follow your nose.  Some of the top picks include Duke Carvells on Wellington’s famous Cuba Street for great coffee and laid back style, or pop into any Mojo for a quick cosmopolitan cuppa. Close to the summit venue try Nikau tucked in behind the Art Gallery or Finc opposite the Town Hall.

Next to our love of coffee, we enjoy our food and a good night out. The quality of bars and restaurants in our compact and cool capital needs to be seen to be believed, offering up vibrant atmosphere and food that will make you want to go back for more! Take your pick of quirky, cool, divine or decadent.

Hopefully you’ll find a few ideas that appeal to you while you’re exploring Wellington

We’ve got an exciting social programme for you to take advantage of throughout the summit.  Further details surrounding these events will be uploaded soon.

Welcome to Wellington, it’s great to have you here.
